People come into counselling & longer term therapy for many different reasons. It might be that you feel stuck or confused in your current situation, frustrated that you are in that "same old place again" or dealing with a very specific issue or crisis point in your life. Talking therapies are about providing a neutral and confidential space where you can explore what is going on in your life and what you might like to change and do differently.
I work in both Edinburgh and West Lothian and my role is to work with you, at your own pace to better understand your world and what is happening in it. I offer 1 to 1 counselling on a short term basis (6 to 24 weeks), as well a longer therapeutic work between medium term (6 months to 1 year) and longer term (1 year+). You do not need to know for certain how long or indeed what it is you want to work on. Counselling and therapy can be a place for exploring problems and solutions as well as working towards specific change.
